EDITORIAL & DATA INTEGRITY 2026

EDITORIAL POLICY.

Last updated: March 2026. Our commitment to providing the most accurate, transparent, and authoritative healthcare provider directory in the United States.

At NPI Telehealth, we are committed to providing the most accurate, transparent, and authoritative healthcare provider directory in the United States. This page outlines our editorial principles and how we source our data.

1. Data Sources

Our primary data source is the National Plan and Provider Enumeration System (NPPES), maintained by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS). This is a federal registry that issues National Provider Identifiers (NPI) to healthcare providers.

We sync our database with the official CMS registry on a weekly basis to ensure our directory reflects the most current information regarding a provider's status, location, and credentials.

2. Unbiased Reporting

NPI Telehealth acts strictly as an objective data aggregator. We do not editorialize, subjectively review, or manually alter a provider's medical credentials.

Information such as medical school attended, graduation year, specialties, and primary practice locations are presented exactly as self-reported by the healthcare professionals to the federal government.

3. Taxonomy Indexing

We classify doctors based on the Health Care Provider Taxonomy Code Set maintained by the Washington Publishing Company (WPC). This standardized system ensures that patients find the exact medical expertise they require without ambiguity.

4. Patient Reviews

Our review system allows verified patients to share their experiences. To maintain the integrity of our platform:

  • We do not allow providers to pay for the removal of negative reviews.

  • Reviews are screened for spam, offensive language, and HIPAA compliance.

  • Overall ratings are calculated using a simple mathematical average.

5. Telehealth Verification

Providers displaying the "Telehealth available" badge have explicitly indicated their capability to conduct secure, HIPAA-compliant virtual visits. We encourage patients to confirm telehealth policies with the provider's office directly prior to booking.

Have questions about our data?

If you notice an inaccuracy in a provider's profile, please advise the provider to update their information via the official CMS NPPES portal. Our system will automatically reflect those updates within 7-14 days.
